New Patients
What to expect.
If this is your first time as a patient to our centres, Welcome!
For most people who come to us, it’s their very first visit to a chiropractor. Even more amazingly, over 90% of our patients are completely new to chiropractic care – often because they’re not yet aware of its benefits, not just for relieving symptoms but also for supporting long-term health and wellbeing.
We leave no stone unturned to provide the best possible care that is tailored to your specific needs.

WHAT IS
Chiropractic
Chiropractic care is a natural and effective way to help your body function optimally. It focuses on the health of your spine and nervous system — the vital communication network between your brain and your body.
When your spine is aligned and moving properly, your body can heal, adapt, and perform at its best.
Chiropractors use gentle, specific adjustments to correct areas of spinal dysfunction. This not only helps relieve pain and stiffness, but also improves posture, movement, and nervous system function — all of which can lead to better energy levels, sleep, and overall health.
“Establishing the root cause of your symptoms is the single most important part of your care.”

Consultation
Our chiropractors take time to apply clinical expertise to pinpoint the cause of your pain and symptoms.
Report of Findings
This is where we share the findings from your consultation, and talk you through how we can help you.
Your Treatment
This is when you start to experience the many amazing benefits of Chiropractic care.
DAY 1
The Initial Consultation
During your first appointment, we will discuss your main complaint and any other health-related issues and concerns. This will involve taking your case history, followed by a physical examination.
Here’s what to expect…
01
A bit of paperwork:
We will have some simple paperwork for you to fill in on your first visit with a member of our front desk team, including important details about you and why you are seeing us.
We look to give you a brief tour of the centre so you know where all the amenities are.
02
A full case history:
In order to identify the cause of your complaint and address it and / or any other concerns you may have, we will take a full and detailed history.
For this reason we ask you to bring with you as much information about your history as you have available, including a list of any medications you are taking or have taken in the past, images such as X-rays or MRIs, and any other information about past medical procedures you have had or are having done.
03
Physical examination:
This involves a complete examination of your spine and nerve system as well as joints, muscles and ligaments, to reach a working rationale for the cause of your complaint.
At the end of this session, we will tell you whether we think we can help. If we can, we will book the next appointment, which is called the Report of Findings.
Should your chiropractor feel it necessary, you may be referred for further imaging.
DAY 2
Report of Findings
This session will ideally occur within 24 hours after you have had your New Patient Examination (see above).
By this time, we will have been able to examine your case (in most cases, no further tests are required) and determine what is required to get you to where you want to be.
At this session we will explain…
04
What we have found:
We will give you a detailed explanation of what we have found using models and charts where possible, along with the history and examination findings and how these relate to you.
If you have had X-rays, we will also show you these images so you can see for yourself (not everyone requires X-rays).
05
What we can do:
We will only take on board patients we feel we are confident we can help. We also book regular reassessments into any schedule given to you so that if you are improving, we can tell you, or if there are no signs of improvement, we can refer you for follow-up imaging or tests if necessary.
06
How many sessions it may take:
This will be determined by a number of factors, including:
- The origin of your complaint
- How long you have had the complaint
- Your lifestyle, how active you are etc.
- Underlying complications such as “wear and tear” or osteoarthritis
07
How much it might cost:
This will be determined by the number of sessions and if any other imaging is needed. We also make sure there are options to save money for those patients who are dedicated to their care and getting better following the schedule of recommended care. Here at the centre, there is a level of chiropractic care for everyone, we are here to advise you on that level and the costs associated
We advise most patients to bring a partner or close friend to this second session.
We have found that patients do tend to be better supported at home and, as a result, tend to improve faster.
Your first adjustment
Provided you are happy, we will usually start care on the day, straight after the Report of Findings. We appreciate that most people are in pain when they first come to see us and genuinely want to start care as soon as possible; for this reason, we allocate a dedicated time slot after the Report of Findings for the first adjustment.
Whilst there is no charge for our time at the Report of Findings, all adjustments (including the first one) are charged for. The charges for adjustments and all the services we provide can be found under Services & Charges.
Home exercises and supportive care.
Before leaving you will be usually be given instructions and a handout on certain activities or exercises to be carried out at home. This advice may also include the use of ice (or very occasionally heat) and advise you to avoid certain activities and positions that we feel may be aggravating your condition.
Follow up appointments
Your Doctor of Chiropractic at our centre will provide you with a schedule of care that is right for you. It usually takes time to create a bad habit and consequential problem, so it can take time to heal and return to a state of well-being. You may therefore receive a schedule of care that is tailored to your case.
Any schedule will include reassessments so all aspects of your care are monitored at all times.
We know that everyone has commitments, so we offer your appointment/s scheduled in advance at times that are most convenient for you. We are also open late and on some Saturdays.

Reassessments
We allocate dedicated time to reassessments regularly throughout your care with us because we believe your treatment plan should be as dynamic as your recovery.
These scheduled checkpoints allow us to pause and objectively measure your progress using specific chiropractic metrics, such as range of motion, posture analysis, and functional testing. By consistently tracking these improvements, we can fine-tune your adjustments and modify your care plan to ensure you are not just feeling better, but actually healing correctly and efficiently.
We prioritise regular reassessments to track your progress, ensuring your care plan evolves to meet your body’s changing needs during recovery.
Health / Posture Class
Given that most people we encounter have chronic complaints that have been ignored and subsequently worsened, it is very likely that if they go back to their usual habits, they will end up back where they started.
Poor posture is just one of these bad habits. In this class, we recap on positive and healthy attributes to include in your lifestyle so that you are less likely to slip back to where you were when you first came to see us with your symptoms.
We strongly encourage every patient to attend our health class at least once to gain a deeper understanding of how their body functions and heals.
Currently held every fortnight, these sessions are designed to demystify chiropractic care and equip you with practical tools, from ergonomic tips to stress management, that extend the benefits of your adjustments into your daily life. By attending, you become an active partner in your recovery, ensuring faster and more sustainable results.
In clinical practice, we have found that people who come to the health class stay on track with their recommended care and feel more empowered from having attended.
And finally, we maintain your health
When you are feeling great and back on track, we offer ongoing well-being care for those who want not only to keep the pain away but to keep themselves in an optimal state of health.
Stay pain-free, stay at your best – our ongoing care keeps you in peak health.

FREE Complementary Spinal Health Check
We became concerned a number of years ago when we found people were (and are) waiting unnecessarily for healthcare.
For this reason, we offer a complementary (non-diagnostic) service for those in need. Originally for children, we have now been able to expand this service to everyone.
“Ensuring no one in our community has to wait unnecessarily to explore their health options.”

Chiropractic FAQs
Here are some answers to common questions we get asked..
What conditions can chiropractors treat?
Our experienced chiropractors at the Chiropractic Centre can treat a wide range of different conditions, from back pain, neck pain and recurrent headaches/migraines, to arthritis, fibromyalgia and diagnosed musculoskeletal disorders. Book an appointment to find out how we can help.
Does chiropractic treatment hurt?
Many people who haven’t had chiropractic treatment before worry that their sessions will be painful. However, treatment is usually painless unless an area is swollen.
You may experience slight discomfort as your body is manipulated, but this usually only lasts for a few moments. You may also hear clicking and popping sounds.
These are all perfectly normal and expected parts of chiropractic treatment and nothing to be concerned about, but if you have worries, please speak to your chiropractor on the day.
Is chiropractic treatment safe?
Absolutely, when it is performed by a trained and registered chiropractor. It’s quite normal to experience some aches, pains and stiffness after treatment as your body adjusts and starts to heal.
These side effects are usually mild and last for only a few days. If you have any pre-existing medical conditions, it’s important to talk to your chiropractor before starting treatment.
What should I wear to my appointment?
For chiropractic, we simply ask that you wear something comfortable that allows free movement. We do recommend avoiding skirts or dresses, as these can limit mobility during your treatment.
For massage, your therapist will always work in a way that makes you feel most comfortable. Most patients choose to remove clothing from the area being massaged, and your modesty will always be protected with towels and sheets.
Can I bring someone with me?
If you would like or need to bring a friend or relative to support you during treatment, that is absolutely fine – we want you to feel as comfortable and at ease as possible.
In some instances, your chiropractor may want another person to act as a chaperone, or a clinical assistant to also be present. This will be discussed with you at your appointment.
Do I need to sign up for a whole treatment plan?
Most patients with acute pain or symptoms initially start with an intensive treatment plan to help them achieve the greatest improvement in their symptoms as quickly as possible. This may mean having a number of treatments over a fairly short timescale.
However, many of our patients then go on to have semi-regular, routine appointments to help them maintain optimal health and wellness.
For patients with chronic conditions, treatment plans tend to be longer-term. However, you can decide to stop treatment any time you like, and you will not be expected to pay for any treatment you haven’t received.
How much does chiropractic treatment cost?
The cost of your chiropractic treatment will depend on the nature of your treatment plan. You can discuss this with your chiropractor. We operate a transparent pricing policy and will always explain and agree on fees with you in advance of your treatments.
