SCOLIOSIS TREATMENT
Recognising the Symptoms
Scoliosis is a sideways curvature of the spine that often develops during growth in adolescence, but it can also affect adults due to degeneration or postural strain.
While every case is different, common signs include:
- Uneven shoulders or hips
- One shoulder blade appearing more prominent
- Tilting to one side when standing
- Back or neck pain
- Muscle tightness or fatigue
- Reduced flexibility or restricted movement
Scoliosis can range from mild to more noticeable curves, and symptoms can develop gradually, especially in adults where wear and tear or posture may worsen the condition.
Don’t just take our word for it…
SCOLIOSIS TREATMENT
What’s causing the problem?
When the spine curves abnormally, it creates imbalances in the muscles, joints, and ligaments that support it. This uneven pressure can lead to muscle fatigue, stiffness, pain, and restricted motion.
In children and teens, scoliosis often occurs without a clear cause, while in adults it can develop due to degenerative changes, poor posture, or injuries that alter spinal balance.
Over time, these imbalances can affect how the body moves and functions, contributing to discomfort and tension throughout the back, neck, and shoulders.
“I’ve had severe neck pain and headaches for about 4 years after having surgery. After seeing Dan for 4 sessions, I am 99% improved and very happy.”

How chiropractic can help.
We take a gentle, individualised approach to helping people manage scoliosis and its symptoms. Our goal isn’t to “straighten” the spine but to improve alignment, reduce strain, and enhance comfort and movement.
Your personalised treatment may include:
- Gentle spinal adjustments to improve mobility and reduce tension
- Soft tissue techniques to ease tight muscles and support balance
- Postural advice and exercises to strengthen supporting muscles
- Ongoing guidance to help manage symptoms and prevent progression
With consistent care, many people find they can move more freely, experience less pain, and feel more balanced day to day.

Chiropractic FAQs
Here are some answers to common questions we get asked..
What conditions can chiropractors treat?
Our experienced chiropractors at the Chiropractic Centre can treat a wide range of different conditions, from back pain, neck pain and recurrent headaches/migraines, to arthritis, fibromyalgia and diagnosed musculoskeletal disorders. Book an appointment to find out how we can help.
Does chiropractic treatment hurt?
Many people who haven’t had chiropractic treatment before worry that their sessions will be painful. However, treatment is usually painless unless an area is swollen.
You may experience slight discomfort as your body is manipulated, but this usually only lasts for a few moments. You may also hear clicking and popping sounds.
These are all perfectly normal and expected parts of chiropractic treatment and nothing to be concerned about, but if you have worries, please speak to your chiropractor on the day.
Is chiropractic treatment safe?
Absolutely, when it is performed by a trained and registered chiropractor. It’s quite normal to experience some aches, pains and stiffness after treatment as your body adjusts and starts to heal.
These side effects are usually mild and last for only a few days. If you have any pre-existing medical conditions, it’s important to talk to your chiropractor before starting treatment.
What should I wear to my appointment?
For chiropractic, we simply ask that you wear something comfortable that allows free movement. We do recommend avoiding skirts or dresses, as these can limit mobility during your treatment.
For massage, your therapist will always work in a way that makes you feel most comfortable. Most patients choose to remove clothing from the area being massaged, and your modesty will always be protected with towels and sheets.
Can I bring someone with me?
If you would like or need to bring a friend or relative to support you during treatment, that is absolutely fine – we want you to feel as comfortable and at ease as possible.
In some instances, your chiropractor may want another person to act as a chaperone, or a clinical assistant to also be present. This will be discussed with you at your appointment.
Do I need to sign up for a whole treatment plan?
Most patients with acute pain or symptoms initially start with an intensive treatment plan to help them achieve the greatest improvement in their symptoms as quickly as possible. This may mean having a number of treatments over a fairly short timescale.
However, many of our patients then go on to have semi-regular, routine appointments to help them maintain optimal health and wellness.
For patients with chronic conditions, treatment plans tend to be longer-term. However, you can decide to stop treatment any time you like, and you will not be expected to pay for any treatment you haven’t received.
How much does chiropractic treatment cost?
The cost of your chiropractic treatment will depend on the nature of your treatment plan. You can discuss this with your chiropractor. We operate a transparent pricing policy and will always explain and agree on fees with you in advance of your treatments.
